Ever since ancient times “experts” have been predicting the future. Here is a selection of predictions, made by second year students studying at Periodical Press and Web-journalism Department of BSU about the future of their university.

Not to Waste One’s Time

As for me, students outline the main trends and characteristics of the university. Probably there will be students of all ages and social statuses. Their unconditional interest to the disciplines and future profession will serve as the main unifying attribute. They will be intelligent, open-minded and inspired, with high level of background knowledge and ambitions. I hope there won’t be anyone who comes here just to waste their time.

Independence and Confidence

The foundation of learning will not be cramming and memorization, as it has been for hundreds of years. Students will become more independent and confident. The need for regulatory bodies will disappear because future people will not be afraid to take responsibility. They will be more autonomous and determine what kind of knowledge they need.

Space and Oceans

What will the programs and educational process be like in 100 years? Probably, training will be held remotely by using gadgets. As for the programs, it is likely that common subjects will be removed from them and… Maybe space studies will be added? But it seems that people will study more information connected with oceans, which are still poorly understood. And, of course, they will study everything related to space and its secrets.

I hope that the BSU Students’ Union and other organizations will solve significant and serious problems of youth and society through their projects. And this will not only help students to realize their ideas and reveal valuable talents, but also lead the world for the better.

As a web editor of the “English section” on www.websmi.by, I'd like to describe the future that awaits us. In 100 years, the site will not lose its relevance. I think the demand for the «English section» will even increase because with each year there are always more students who write and read in English! Developing our «English section» will lead to success. And the number of page views, which is rather high now, will definitely increase. I believe in the bright future of the «English section» on www.websmi.by!

“Jurfacty” in 100 Years

In a hundred years, I think, newspapers may become fully electronic. Perhaps, instead of the usual "JourFacts", there will be an equally interesting project but in the form of an account on social networks or a separate user-friendly site. Such mode would allow everyone to follow the news with little effort. It would allow publishing and reading more news quickly, and not just text and photos, but also video and audio materials.

New Ways with Old Sports

Nowadays interest to healthy lifestyle is increasing. People devote more and more time to nutrition and activity. So I believe that sport will not disappear from BSU, but the approach to it will be changed. Now sports sections resemble professional sports, i.e., presuppose training and competitions. But it seems to me that in a hundred years many sections will be aimed exclusively at maintaining health, losing weight, gaining muscle mass, and this won't be accompanied by competitive activities.

Student Unions Will Definitely Exist

Student time is considered to be one of the best periods in life. After all, students do not just study, they also take part in different events. There are many unions, organizations and foundations in BSU. As a representative of the Student Union, I would really like our organization to become even bigger. In future it would be cool to merge with other universities. The SU will be replenished with active students, which will influence the organization for the better. And the celebration of the bicentennial of the university will be held with a bang!
